I'm a little worried.....Mia already likes to stare at the TV just like I do!!
No more tummy time! I've had enough!
We just started putting Mia in her Bumbo chair last week because her head is strong enough now. She seems to like it. It helps her learn to sit up. She really looks old now!
Mia can help Daddy cook while sitting in her chair. Don't worry, we watch her very carefully on the counter, and we won't put it up anymore once she starts moving.
We were thrilled to have nice weather recently. Maco loves to take Mia outside while he gardens. Hopefully Mia will have a green thumb like him.
I attempted to take Mia outside for a few minutes to snap some shots in the sun. It was so hot, that we barely lasted 2 minutes, but I managed to capture a couple. We're looking forward to spending time outside with Mia this summer. ( It's funny how in some of the pictures Mia looks so chubby, and she doesn't look like that is person-I guess the camera really does add 10 pounds.:))
Mia's first baseball hat! Thanks, Deb! It fits her like hats fit Maco. Too big. :) She definitely has his head.
Mia likes to be a big helper and hold her diaper while I change her. Unfortunately, she doesn't really like to let go when I need it. She has quite the tight grip.
Mia and her friend Siri.
Mia got a taste of a typical Saturday of running around to my student's baseball and soccer games last weekend! We stopped off and had lunch with my wonderful co-workers and friends, Patti & Darcy. We had 3 games on the agenda for the day and it was only about 90 degree out. Needless to say, we only ended up making it to one game. Mia could have gone to more, but I was exhausted and hot. Mia was quite a trooper as always.
I've also been approved to take a one-year leave of absence from my position at Kalama for the 2008-2009 school year. It was a very hard decision for us, and I will miss Kalama considerably. But it finally hit me that if we're able to make it work financially, why wouldn't I take advantage of this time with Mia. I'll never get to experience this age and time with her again, and I will have 20 more years to work. Right now the plan is to stay home for the year and go back to Kalama the following year. There is always the possibility of resigning and staying home while our children are young, but we'll wait and see how this year goes. While I am going to stay at home with Mia, I plan to sub two days a week in Vancouver. Marna and my cousin are going to watch Mia while I sub, which I'm very happy about. The subbing will give our family a little financial boost and allow me the interaction with kids, which I love. I will only work from 8-3 and I won't have the stress of teaching and everything that is outside the 8-3:00 day. I still plan to go to story time and the mom groups that I've been attending on the days that I'm not subbing, so Mia won't miss out. I've really enjoyed experiencing these things and I want to continue them in the fall.
Mia really pushes herself up on her forearms well now that she's sleeping on her tummy.
She has recently found her hands and loves to suck on them. She hasn't found her thumb yet. I can't decide if I want her to or not. You've all heard the saying, "You can take away a pacifier, but you can't take away a thumb." I realize that it's not really up to me. Mia's going to suck her thumb if she wants, whether we like it or not. :)
Mia is relaxing at the Mommy & Me group that we've started going to at the hospital.
What's Mia doing here??? Of course.....more TUMMY TIME!
Another shirt to remember her big brother Josiah. If you can't read it, it says, "I am the little sister."
After the third week of weekly pictures, I wrote that I wasn't really seeing a change in Mia's appearance. Well, I now see a big change throughout each week, especially when you compare her 12 week picture to her 1 week pix. To me, the 1 wk picture doesn't even look like her.:) Now that Mia's 3 months, I'm just going to take monthly pictures.
